This recent World Health Organization publication explores the current crisis facing many diseases as a result of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and describes examples of policy activity that have addressed AMR in different parts of the world. The aim of this new book is to raise awareness and stimulate further coordinated effort.
Chapter Two (page 12), Surveillance to trackantimicrobial use and resistance, focuses on the tools to track resistant bacteria and the use of antibiotics.
Chapter Six (page 78), Fostering innovation to combat antimicrobial resistance, explores the need for innovation in drugs, vaccines and diagnostics and the products which are in the pipeline.
These two will be of particular interest to those working in the field of diagnostics.
